The Role

ecosecurities is seeking an experienced Carbon Project Development Manager to join the North Latin American (N. LatAm) team. As Project Development Manager, you will play a critical role in the development, expansion, and validation of ecosecurities’ NBS program in Latin America. The role will provide technical skills and analysis in NBS carbon projects. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in current and emerging carbon standards, methodologies and procedural requirements to ensure compliance and development of projects of the highest integrity. 

The manager will be responsible for moving priority opportunities to full-scale development including: i) developing the value proposition of proposals and projects ii) determining project's technical, financial, social and climate eligibility & viability; iii) managing project implementation, develop feasibility studies, PDDs, emission reduction models as required, iv) assess project’s impact across environmental, community and socio-economic parameters; and iii) supporting design and delivery of long-term monitoring and impact assessment mechanisms for those projects being certified to voluntary market standards.

The Manager will be working in close collaboration with ecosecuritie’s teams operating across Latin America, as well as ecosecurities’ global team in Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific regions. This is a full-time position and candidates should be based preferably in Colombia, Mexico, Panama, or Peru.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project origination, design and management of NBS carbon project development opportunities. Develop tools, frameworks, and templates to streamline the assessment of potential carbon projects, pre-feasibility assessment, project risk analysis, financial models, benefits sharing mechanisms. Identify opportunities and turn them into viable carbon projects. Identify new opportunities and thematic areas for the growth and development of ecosecurities NbS program of work across the Latin America region.

  • Lead the technical development of NbS carbon projects. This includes but is not limited to data gathering, analyses, and narrative of key elements of the Project Design Document (PDD) and Monitoring and Verification Reports (MRV), developing carbon emissions baseline and with-project scenarios, contributing to the identification, design and assessment of field implementation activities, writing project certification documents including PDDs and MRV, leading validation/verification processes, and conducting site visits and carbon due diligence, as needed. Assist biodiversity and community monitoring, and stakeholder engagement processes.

  • Support management of ecosecurities’ relationships with external partners. Continually looking for opportunities to strengthen technical support and capacity building to enhance collaboration and partnerships.

  • Stay up to date with climate change policy and the evolution of VCM standards and methodologies and UNFCCC developments to inform and support guiding the NbS carbon project structuring and development.

  • Support the identification, cultivation and execution of new business opportunities; through screening of project opportunities, preliminary estimations of emission reductions, and due diligence processes;

  • Support developing the value proposition of proposals and projects, marketing and commercial materials as needed, and supporting the definition of commercial strategies and action plans.

  • Work in close collaboration with the ecosecurities NBS and AFOLU teams operating across Latin America, as well as ecosecurities’ global team in Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific regions to ensure alignment of strategies and priorities. Provide periodic reports and assessments on progress against project development for internal and external audiences.

  • Other task as directed by the ecosecurities Head of N.LatAm Region (Northern Andes, Caribbean & Central America).




  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in environmental management/engineering, sustainable development, social sciences, or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

  • Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish is a must. Ability to create high quality written documents (proposals and deliverables) in English and Spanish.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

  • Proven ability to work across multiple teams in multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and stakeholders.


  • Knowledge of forestry, natural resource management, regenerative agriculture, ecosystems services, conservation, climate change and/or sustainable development issues and policy trends across the Latin America region.

  • Experience in AFOLU project development consistent with VCM, jurisdictional (ie JNR, CAR and ART TREES) and/or other global carbon standards.

  • Knowledge of the carbon market and carbon project development is an advantage.
