The Role

We are seeking an experienced business development manager to lead Ecosecurities’ Brazilian commercial team. The successful candidate will work with our Brazilian and international teams to help us expand our carbon origination portfolio under international voluntary standards. Our portfolio includes primarily Nature-based Solutions projects, such as reforestation, REDD+, Blue Carbon, soil carbon fixation, as well as renewable energy and waste handle and disposal in smaller scale.  The role will require a breadth of multidisciplinary skill sets across team leadership, business management, business development, finance, science, markets and technology. It will focus on building relations with local stakeholders to identify opportunities to originate NBS initiatives, as well as emissions reduction projects. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, motivate and lead a capable sourcing team to support growing sourcing activities in Brazil

  • Identify opportunities for Ecosecurities to act as project partner for new and existing carbon projects

  • Build and nurture strategic working relationships with project owners, such as pastoral/herd companies, indigenous groups, other landholders, as well as aggregators and membership organisations to develop or manage carbon projects, including on land managed by traditional owners

  • Initiate feasibility studies and undertake due diligence on prospective leads prior to signing emission reduction purchase/project development Agreements
    Design and implement business development campaigns, including workshops and one-to-one interactions targeting new carbon farming projects, and help the Climate Projects team’s marketing lead to design marketing and PR materials, social media 

  • Undertake due diligence on prospective leads prior to signing Sales Agreements

  • Together with the technical team, develop project plans and budgets to ensure technical expertise is optimally deployed for Brazilian projects

  • Build business development strategies for the Brazilian commercial team with regards to enhance Ecosecurities portfolio of carbon projects throughout Brazil

  • Attain or surpass the global project sourcing goals for the region

  • Support implementation of Ecosecurities’ projects once they have been acquired, in close collaboration with the Technical Team.

  • Form part of deal teams for carbon projects that require investment in the form of carbon credit prepayments, equity or debt finance, and require effective communications with the investment and structuring teams of Ecosecurities

  • Work closely with other key members of the team, to foster the implementation of specific platforms, such as the Reforestation Platform, Ybyrá.




  • University degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Economics, Environmental Sustainability, Business Development. Law and Environmental/Carbon Markets or similar

  • Commercial mindset and proven business development ability with a results-focused approach

  • Experienced people-manager who is effective at motivating, directing, supporting and managing a small team of dedicated professionals

  • Minimum 7 years of work experience in carbon markets, carbon project development, emissions reduction methods or a related field

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation related to Carbon Credits

  • Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders including government and landowners

  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, as well as independently, with colleagues based in different locations and time zones around the globe

  • Result-oriented work approach with the ability to work quickly from concept creation to the implementation of successful projects

  • Eagerness to grow and learn in an evolving environment

  • Optimistic, mission-driven personality with a can-do spirit

  • Broad understanding of global sustainability issue

  • Proficiency with MS office

  • Adaptability and versatility


  • Masters Degree

  • Outstanding project and time management skills

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, emission reduction project-based carbon standards, technologies and project development processes

  • Knowledge and experience working with Agriculture, Forestry and other Land Use (AFOLU) projects 



5-10 years of experience in positions of business development, commercial, project structuring and / or management consulting. Experience in the north and midwest regions of Brazil is desirable, as well as experience in forest and agribusiness sectors.
